How to Make a Custom Match-Strike Jar
Follow this simple DIY to create a custom match-strike jar that no longer clashes with your decor. No more ugly match boxes!
This diy is really super simple, but I wanted to try it out and thought I might as well share it with y’all as well! I tried two different methods and they both work well.
We keep matches on our mantle for lighting the fireplace in the winter as well as in the kitchen for lighting the candle on our table (we light a candle each evening during dinner as one of our family rhythms).

Materials and Tools Needed
Method one (this option uses special stickers which you can purchase):
A jar (or two or three) of your choice. A small-ish size that will fit the two inch match sticks is best. I thrifted both of mine pictured in this tutorial
Method two (this option requires cutting out the match striker from the box of matches):
A jar of your choosing
Hot glue gun
Instructions
Method one:
Gather the materials and make sure the jar is clean.
Un-peel and place the match-striker sticker on the bottom or side of the jar.
Fill the jar with matches and enjoy!
Method two:
Gather the materials and make sure the jar is clean.
Determine where you want to place the match striker (I placed this one vertically on the side for easy striking. It will be hidden on the back side of the jar when placed on the mantle).
Cut a portion of the match striker from the box of matches to fit where you’d like it on the jar.
Using a hot glue gun, attach the match striker to the jar. Press firmly and allow to cool.
Fill with matches and enjoy your lovely match-striker jar!
